Every account gets 3 hours of transcription per month for free - enough for a few Sunday services or mid-week meetings. For weekly services + mid-week + the occasional conference, the Premium tier (£12/month, 12 hours) takes over. You'll see a clear notice when you're approaching either limit.
At launch, VerseFlash detects against the King James Version (KJV) - public domain, theologically familiar, and what most of our test sermons quote. Additional translations are on the roadmap; tell us which one matters to you at [email protected].
VerseFlash is desktop-first. The macOS app can be downloaded from the homepage. A Windows desktop build is the next target. There's also a web app at app.verseflash.com that works in any modern browser, handy for trying it before downloading.
Your microphone audio is transcribed in real time, and VerseFlash watches the running transcript for scripture references - verbatim quotes, paraphrases, partial references, and shorthand like "chapter three verse sixteen". Each match comes with a confidence score so the operator can decide which ones to project. Verses below a confidence threshold are filtered out automatically. For details on the third-party services involved in transcription and detection, see our privacy policy.
On macOS, the first time you start a session you'll get a system prompt asking for microphone permission. If you denied it, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and turn VerseFlash on. In the web app, your browser handles the same permission flow - look for the mic icon in the address bar.
No. Sign-in is Google only, and an account is required so we can meter your weekly free allowance and keep your saved sessions tied to you across devices. We don't pull anything from your Google account beyond your name and email.
Only when you opt in. Each session has a "Save transcript" toggle - if it's off, we track only the session's duration (for billing) and discard the transcript at the end. If it's on, the transcript and the detected scripture cards land in your session history, accessible from any device you sign in on.
Transcript words land within a second of being spoken. Scripture detection cards appear a couple of seconds behind that - the system reads a small phrase window so it can disambiguate references like "chapter three verse sixteen" against the most recently-mentioned book.
Yes. The presenter surface gives you a full-screen view of the currently "live" verse, with a blackout toggle when you want a clean black or white screen. There's also a separate cast window - a stripped-down browser window with no app chrome - that streaming teams can pick up as a video source in OBS, Zoom, or any other tool that captures a window.
For now, the session keeps streaming as long as the mic is on - silence still counts toward your monthly usage. We're shipping an idle-mic timeout shortly: after a few minutes of silence you'll get a "Still there?" prompt; if you don't answer, the session pauses itself.
Email [email protected] with a short description and (if you're seeing a bug) the rough time of the session. We log every report and reply within a day or two.
Use the delete-account page. You don't need to be signed in.
